Women Build

What is Women Build?

Women Build is a volunteer program for women who want to make a difference in their community by building homes and revitalizing neighborhoods. This Habitat for Humanity International program was officially created in 1998 and since its inception, more than 1,800 Women Build houses have been built worldwide. This program is not about excluding men, but about including women so they can learn or enhance home construction skills on a Habitat build site.

Locally, women come together to construct a Habitat house in East Baltimore for a deserving family that has successfully completed our “sweat equity” volunteer program. Their 30-year, interest-free mortgage payments go into a revolving fund to help build more homes.

No construction experience is required to work on the Women Build site, you just need a great attitude!

Lowe’s is a national partner with Habitat for Humanity International for Women Build. By 2013, Lowe’s will have contributed nearly $40 million to Habitat’s work.

How Can I help?

• Fundraise to help us reach our $100,000 goal

• Become an advocate and help bring other women to the Baltimore Women Build project

• Serve on the Women Build Committee
