Red Hats are the corps of skilled volunteers who guide and lead our volunteer crews. Our affiliate relies on these dedicated men and women to make the Habitat model work — building homes, serving families, transforming communities.
This program has been developed for the volunteers of Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake who want to step up to the next level of involvement with our work of transforming lives and communities. They commit to at least two days a month on site to assist our Site Supervisors’ efforts to ensure safety, productivity and quality control of construction performed by volunteers.
Orientation begins with the Red Hat 101 course which consists of one two-hour evening class and three full-day Saturday sessions. The topics covered in this course are safety, familiarization with tools and leadership skills.
