WHD12Square 250x250 Celebrate World Habitat Day Enter To Win!
In 1985, the first Monday in October was declared World Habitat Day by the United Nations General Assembly. This international day is aimed to accomplish three key goals:

  • To call attention to the need for better shelter around the world.

  • To let it be known that affordable, adequate housing should be a priority everywhere.

  • To change the systems, policies and attitudes that contribute to poverty housing – and actively involve partners in solutions.

This year, World Habitat day will be celebrated on Monday, October 1. The theme, Many Homes, One Community, is designed to call attention to the importance of the need for adequate housing in our neighborhoods.

To kick off World Habitat Day in the Greater Chesapeake region, Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake is hosting a contest and needs your submissions! This contest offers you the chance to share your stories and win some really awesome prizes.

Here’s the fun part…

Tell us about the work you have done to help build your community. We want to hear about your experiences with Habitat for Humanity or a description of other work you have done to build a sense of community.

Remember:
Don’t limit your answers to things you build with hammers and nails.  Think outside the box!

To participate, simply submit your story (approximately 300 words) and a picture of yourself. Entries must be submitted by Wednesday, 9/26 to contest@habitatchesapeake.org. Please include your name, email address and phone number.

Winners will be announced on Monday 10/1, at 12 noon and receive a Habitat for Humanity gift basket, including a $50 gift card to any of our 3 ReStore locations! Your entry will also be featured here on our blog.
